Asking for Directions: “Being alone doesn’t scare me. In fact, I feel more alert and confident,” says DeSanctis. “When I’m lost, I ask other women for directions.”

Top Travel Tip: “Keep notes during your travels,” advises DeSanctis. “Jot down observations, save napkins or flowers, and record experiences in your journal. Some of my best stories come from my travel diary. You never know, you might even write a book about your adventures someday.”
