Vijay, who is 49 years old, announced the start of his own political party called ‘Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam’. He thinks that Tamil Nadu’s politics right now is not good because of problems like corruption and division.
People who really like Vijay, called ‘Thalapathy,’ are happy about his decision. Thalapathy means leader or boss.
The name of Vijay’s party means ‘Tamil Nadu Victory Party’. When he told everyone about his party, his fans celebrated by going out in the streets and sharing their happiness online.
People have been guessing for a while that Vijay might join politics. Tamil Nadu has had many famous actors become politicians, like M G Ramachandran, J Jayalalithaa, and Vijayakant.
Vijay will be the leader of his party. He says the party will take part in the 2026 elections for the state assembly but won’t join in the national elections.
Vijay said, “People in Tamil Nadu want politics to change. They want leaders who are honest and fair, and who don’t divide people based on their background.”
He wants to help Tamil Nadu because the people there made him famous after his parents.
He said, “I have started my political party, ‘Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam’, with all my heart. We have applied to the Election Commission of India to register it.”
He picked his party’s leaders on January 25, and they approved the rules of the party.
